The Day My To-Do List Got Eaten by the Dog (And It Was Fine)
There I was, coffee in one hand, to-do list in the other, feeling like maybe — just maybe — I was about to get ahead of my day. And then, in one swift, slobbery ambush, Gabby pulled a full-on ninja move and snatched the list right out of my hand like it was a prize bone.
It took all of 10 seconds. I turned around to grab my mug, and in that brief window of silence — you know, the kind that moms everywhere fear — Gabby struck. One moment she was on the floor snoozing like an angel, the next she was joyfully shredding my carefully color-coded list like it was the best snack she’d had all day.
By the time I got to her, it looked like confetti had exploded in the kitchen. And there, in the middle of the mess, sat Gabby — tail wagging, tongue out, eyes saying “You’re welcome.”
And you know what? After the initial “OH COME ON” moment passed… it hit me:
Maybe I didn’t need that list today.
Maybe I needed the reminder that everything I was going to do? It would either get done — or it wouldn’t — and life would keep moving.
So if today feels like a mess, or your to-do list goes missing (with or without dog teeth involved), take a breath. You’re not behind — you’re just living a very real life. And that’s more than enough.
“You’re not behind. You’re just living a real life.“
