After fourteen wonderful years, my sweet girl and constant companion, Sophie, passed away. She was a black-and-white Shih Tzu, a loyal presence in my life. When my grown children left home, she became even more important to me, filling the quiet spaces with love and comfort. Her absence left me deeply lonely, and I missed her more than words could express.
About three months later, as I was scrolling through the internet, I stumbled upon a picture of Gabby. She looked like a black-and-white Chihuahua and something about her caught my eye. But the timing wasn’t right—I wasn’t ready to open my heart to another pet.
Three months went by and, another picture stopped me in my tracks. Daisy. There was something about her. She was the cutest little dog. I called to inquire about Daisy, only to discover that Gabby was still available. The excitement rushed through me, and without hesitation, I told the woman I wanted Gabby. Then came an unexpected offer, why not take them both? I hadn’t considered the idea before, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. My heart had enough room for them both. I’m so glad I said yes.
While creating this website, choosing the name was effortless. The answer had been with me all along—Gabberdaberdo. It was Gabby’s nickname, something playful and different, filled with personality and joy. How fun does Gabberdaberdo sound? Gabby became our mascot, a perfect symbol of love, fun, and boundless playfulness.
What started as a playful word reminds me that the best things in life sometimes find us when we least expect them.”
